I was going downtown to finish the last two days of an Oracle class. When I was walking from the train station to the classroom I saw a huge crowd of people standing on the corner. I crossed the street, to avoid them, and went on into my class. When my friend came into the class he asked if I had saw the body on the street. I said I saw something on the ground but didn't pay much attention to it. So we got some pops and went down to see what was going on.
By the time we had gotten back down to the street, the body was covered with a white sheet. There was blood everywhere. We sorta pieced the story together from what people were saying and what the scene looked like.
This guy was standing by the el-tracks on the corner, when he had a seizure and fell under the bus tires as the bus was pulling away. We first thought that the bus was trying to make a turn an crushed the dude between the track supports and the side of the bus. This was because there was blood all over the back of the bus, and blood on the supports. We found out that the blood was thrown everywhere once the tires were on top of him and started to spin.
An ambulance showed up and the cops loaded the sheeted body into it. The saddest thing happened after word, a firetruck came by and started hosing down the street. I looked down and saw blood, water, bites of bone, and brain swirling down the sewer drain. The only thing I could think about was how many other people had been washed away, and are under the streets of Chicago.
About a month later I was setup to interview with Anthony Cipolla and Vito Beiga for this job. The interview when something like this:
Anthony, "We are looking for someone who can load Solaris OS on notebooks, Can you do it?"
Me, "Yes."
Anthony, "Are you sure?"
Me, "Yes."
Anthony, "Are you really sure?"
Me, "Yes."
Then Anthony started to type on his xterm and pretty much stopped talking to me. I really wanted this job, so I didn't him to be board with me. We had about ten minutes left of this fifteen minute interview, so I said, "Did I tell you a saw a dude killed right in front of me?" He said,"No." of course, and then I started to tell him the story.
After our fifteen minutes were up Vito came in and Anthony left. Vito looked at me and asked, "We are looking for someone who can load Solaris OS on notebooks, Can you do it?" I said, "Yes." Vito asked, "Are you sure?" I said, "Yes." Vito asked, "Are you really sure?" I said, "Yes." Then Vito started to type on Anthony's xterm. I said, "Did I tell you a saw a dude killed right in front of me?" Vito said, "No." so I told him the story.
After the interview was over I talked to Bill Yingst and he couldn't believe that I told them about the guy. Then he said, "You can kiss that job goodbye, they are not gonna hire a psycho." I felt really bad about it, until Anthony called me and asked when I could start. Now I'm sorta happy I'm a psycho. Later I asked both Anthony and Vito why they had picked me. They both said about the samething, "They didn't want someone quiet in their group, so they picked me."
