This is, opps, was my Lars Tetens Body Shop Cigar (7.5x50+). This is the cigar of legends. Lars had bought a ton of pre-embargo Cuban tobacco. He stored it for a while, so it could age properly. Then he started rolling these cigars with it. These are the only 100% Cuban tobacco cigars you can buy or sell in America. These are no Longer Available because Lars is out of the tobacco. A bought mine through an Ebay auction.
It was Friday June 4th 1999, a nice quiet spring night. The perfect time for a cigar. I called up one of my friends and asked him if he wanted to go drinking at the local loser bar we hang out at. It took a lot of convening but he eventually went for it. I grabbed my body shop and set out for the bar. We found a quiet spot in the bar and got a couple of beers. As the conversation turned to work I light "the cigar." The smell was pungent, but not as strong as most of the Lars Tetens line. I snipped off a little of the end cap and popped the cigar into my mouth. The taste was incredible. It had a mild leather taste and then the full rich tobacco taste started coming out of the end cap. It light so easy and I drew in a huge billow of smoke. The smoke cloud exploded from my mouth and slowly rose to the ceiling. It hung there for seemed like the rest of the night.
I started smoking the cigar at about 8:30pm and it was about over at 10:30pm. As I was smoking I was taking care not to bump off my ash. At one point, the ash was about four inches long. The only ashtray on our table was on of those cheap glass suckers, The ash fell all the way across the stupid thing. I have never seem such a cohesive dropping.
When the cigar was over, we decided to move to the bar stools and join the rest of the patrons. I went to stand up and had to grab onto the table to stop from falling over. The last time a cigar had effected me so much, I was in Venezuela with some friends. We had gone to an outside hotel bar and ordered Polar beers and Cuban cigars. After a good two hours of conversation, beer and cigars, I almost fell right over, had to grab onto a friend for support.
All in all an exceptional smoke and a great night of memories. I'm very happy I spent the money to try the cigar. I know that I will never be able to indulge like that again. If you are ever wondering what a real cuban cigar tastes like, I suggest that you try to get you hands on one of these babies, and ride out the smoke of your life.
